Spiritually Focused Psychotherapy

Whether you identify as religious, spiritual, questioning, or secular, spirituality focused therapy can support a more connected and authentic relationship with yourself and your life.

Spirituality can include religious faith, but doesn’t have to, and may involve meaning, identity, purpose, intuition, nature, creativity, meditation, or connection to something larger than oneself. Spiritual therapy acknowledges that you have unique spiritual and existential beliefs, values, and experiences about what it means to be human, that influence your understanding of yourself, others, and the world around you.

Spiritually focused psychotherapy, also known as transpersonal therapy, offers a space to explore emotional healing alongside deeper questions of meaning, identity, connection, and purpose. Together, we work with the psychological and spiritual dimensions of experience—honoring your values, beliefs, and inner wisdom in a grounded, collaborative, and trauma-informed way.

Many people come to therapy not only because they are struggling, but because they are searching for deeper meaning, alignment, or direction in their lives. Inquiring about spiritual beliefs can help bring healing beyond “coping” and can help to reconnect with authenticity and deeper self-understanding.

Spiritually Focused Psychotherapy is a good fit for you if:

  • You are on a deeply personal spiritual journey and want this part of your life honored and incorporated into therapy.

  • You are looking to heal from religious trauma, or are experiencing a crisis of faith.

  • You are open to reclaiming or redefining your spiritual beliefs.

  • You are spiritually curious and desiring to explore the spiritual side of being human.

It’s important to acknowledge that spiritual therapy is part of a holistic approach to mental health treatment and not a standalone treatment modality. Other modalities I combine spiritual therapy with include: Somatic Therapy, EMDR, IFS, and Quantum Psychotherapy. Techniques can include guided mindfulness meditation, breathwork, visualization, chakra meditations, EFT tapping, tarot and oracle card pulls, existential questioning, and exploration of values, meaning, purpose, and mortality amongst others.

And most importantly, I am here to help you find your own spiritual truth. Our work will be consensual, collaborative, and I will not ask or encourage you to participate in any particular faith based practices or spiritual practices unless this is something you already practice or would like to weave into your work. I deeply honor your personal spiritual journey and are here to facilitate a deeper connection with yourself and your own experience of god/source/the universe.
